Cambodia Casinos

There is a fascinating history to the Cambodia gambling halls that reside just across the border from nearby Thailand, in which gambling hall wagering is illegal. Eight gambling halls are anchored in a generally small location in the metropolis of Poipet in Cambodia. This band of Cambodia gambling dens is in an excellent area, a 3 to four hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the two most popular gaming centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a thriving business with Thai blue-collar workers and visitors from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very couple of Westerners. The astonishing income gained from the gambling dens ranges from 7.5 million dollars to over 12.5 million, and there are a few restrictions requirements for casino ownership. Ownership is assumed to be mainly Thai; still, investment sources are vague. The borders are ceremoniously open from 9:00 a.m. to 17:00, and although visas are apparently required to pass, there are ways around this, as is accurate of many borders.

The first Cambodia casinos opened in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were required to close in 1998, leaving only 1 gambling hall in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a docked barge gambling hall, features 150 slot machines and 60 tables. The Naga gambling den is open 24 hours with 42 tables of mini-baccarat chemin de fer, four tables of 21, ten of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and a single table each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The first gambling den in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in the late nineties and the Golden Crown soon followed. There are 150 slots and 5 tables at the Golden Crown and 104 one armed bandits and sixty eight table games at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights three hundred one armed bandits and 70 table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slot machine games and 96 gaming tables, including 87 baccarat (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 one armed bandits and 66 of the familiar table games, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the 8 casinos in Poipet, also in a hotel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slots and ninety seven table games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of an all-inclusive vacation and hotel building that contains many comforts aside from the casino, which offers ten thousand sq.ft. of 130 slot machine games and 88 tables.
