There is an interesting history to the Cambodia gambling dens that sit just over the dividing line from nearby Thailand, in which gambling den betting is illegal. Eight casinos are anchored in a relatively tiny area in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This conclave of Cambodia gambling dens is in an excellent location, a three to 4 hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the two biggest gaming locations in Asia. Cambodia casinos do a thriving business with Thai laborers and guests from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a few Westerners. The astonishing capital acquired from the casinos ranges from $7.5 million to over 12.5 million dollars, and there are a few restrictions constraints for casino ownership. Ownership is required to be mainly Thai; although, investment sources are ambiguous. The borders are formally open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and although visas are allegedly required to cross, there are means around this, as is correct of most borders.

The 1st Cambodia gambling halls opened in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were forced to close in the late nineties, leaving only a single gambling hall in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a docked boat gambling den, highlights 150 slot machines and sixty gaming tables. The Naga river boat is open 24 hours with 42 tables of mini-baccarat chemin de fer, four tables of 21, ten of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and 1 each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The original gambling den in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in the late nineties and the Golden Crown before long followed. There are one hundred and fifty one armed bandits and five tables at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four one armed bandits and sixty eight gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort features 300 slot machine games and seventy tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slot machine games and 96 table games, including eighty seven baccarat chemin de fer (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Also, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slot machine games and 66 of the familiar gaming tables, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the 8 gambling dens in Poipet, also in a hotel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slot machine games and ninety seven games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in an all-inclusive vacation and hotel building that highlights numerous comforts accompanying the gambling den, which provides 10,000 square feet of 130 one armed bandits and 88 gaming tables.
